Obituary: Mrs. Marie D. Kelley age 95 years a life long resident of Barbour County and a former resident of 801 Beverly Pike in Belington departed this life early Monday morning March 8, 2010 at Mansfield Place in Philippi where she had been a resident for the past three years.

She was born June 8th, 1914 at the Point Pleasant Community near Belington a daughter of the late Waitman and Lenna Thompson Everson.

Mrs. Kelley was married on September 18, 1937 to Harold B. “Jake” Kelley who preceded her in death on December 12th, 1982.

Mrs. Kelley is survived by one son Harold E. “Butch” Kelley and wife Jeanie of Dayton, VA; one grandson Travis Kelley and wife Stormi of Harrisonburg, VA; two great grandchildren Brook and Alyssa Kelley both of Harrisonburg, VA; two brothers George Everson, Oakton, VA and Jesse Everson of Berkeley Springs, WV. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, two sisters Lula Goss and Pearl Moore; four brothers Estle, Otis, Joe, and Lloyd Everson.

Mrs. Kelley attended the Schools of Barbour County and was a cook at the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington. Marie cleaned homes and cared for children throughout her younger years. She was a member of the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Belington Fire Department, and a member of the Belington Chapter #68 Order of Eastern Star.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington from 6 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday March 9, 2010 and again on Wednesday from 8 am to 11am when he when final rites will then be conducted with the Rev. Destry Danials and Pastor Ronnie Philips officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington. Chris and Ike, I am so sorry you are having to go through this very hard time of grief. Your mother was a remarkable woman for whom I held the highest regard. She was smart, quick and sensible. I know you both have a lifetime of happy memories of her those memories will bring a smile to your face a laughter to your lives. I am so sorry for your loss.
