Mr. Moats was a member of the Augusta Federation of Musicians since 1975. He started as a gifted musician being taught drums and percussion by Blaine Corder at the Belington Junior High School in 8th grade – having played base drum for school bands and was asked to return after graduation for several years to help tutor the Butler High School Band for band camp. He became a professional musician of which the bands he played in were the “Tune Twisters”, “Mystics Celestials”, The Band “People” of which he toured all over the South East. Ellis was privileged to be friends with a lot of famous groups and singers like Rita Coolidge and Kris Kristofferson, having set in with James Brown and Joe Cocker. Ellis loved playing his drums and he really missed his friends in Augusta, GA.
