| Obituary: | Mr. Patrick R. Dugan age 91years a resident of 33 Barron Ave. in Elkins, and more recently a resident of the Mansfield Place in Philippi departed this life 9:10pm Saturday February 7th 2009 at the care facility following a lengthy illness. He was born January 24th 1918 at Keyser, WV a son of the late Patrick R. and Mabel Marie Montgomery Dugan. On August 16th 1938 he was united in marriage to the former Eleanor Lucille Kisner who survives at their home in Elkins. They had celebrated 70 years of marriage. Surviving are one son James L. Dugan of Elkins, two sisters Mary Katherine Duffy and Rose Marie Dugan both of Washington D.C. Also surviving are one grandson, Robert A Godfrey III and wife Laura, three great grandchildren Emma Kathryn Godfrey, Robert A. Godfrey IV and Patrick Cyrill Godfrey.. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one daughter Patricia Ellen Godfrey, one granddaughter Shannon Marie Dugan three sisters and one brother. Mr. Dugan was a graduate of the Elkins High School. During WWII he worked for the Frankfort Arsenal in Philadelphia and the Baltimore Dry Docks in Baltimore. Mr. Dugan was employed in the railroad industry for forty seven years having worked for Western Maryland and CSX. His employment with the railroad began as an apprentice and through out his career he advanced to roundhouse foreman. He had served on the Elkins City Council for twenty-seven years and formerly attended the First United Methodist Church of Elkins where he had served for many years as an usher and taught the Women’s Sunday school class. Mr. Dugan was an avid Rail Road Buff and enjoyed studying the Civil War. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday February 10th from the Elkins Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Arden Beck officiating. Interment will then follow. At the request of the family, flowers are to be omitted.
