| Obituary: | Mr. John Franklin Cook age 64 years a resident of 806 Brown Ave in Belington departed this life Thursday, April 10, 2008 at his home. He was born April 20, 1943 at Louisville, KY a son of the late Charles C. Cook Sr. and Gertie Allen Cook. On January 4, 1991 at Baltimore, MD, he was united in marriage to Patricia Cook who survives at their home in Belington. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gregory Cook of California, Shawn Cook of Maryland, Charles Poling of Maryland, and two daughters Mellissa Bowen and Tonia Virts both of MD. Surviving siblings include three brothers Charles C. Cook, Jr, George Cook and Darrell Cook, and two sisters Norma Jean Smith and Gloria Jennings. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the US Navy having served in the Vietnam War. Before becoming disabled he was employed as a computer engineer for the Carr-Lowery Glass Co in Baltimore, Md. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. He was a Catholic by faith. Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 to 9 pm on Sunday, April 13th 2008 and on Monday until 11 am the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Valley Bend Cemetery near Belington where members of the American Legion Post #44 of Philippi will conduct full military rites. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. John Franklin Cook. Condolences may be expressed to the family at talbottfuneralhome.com. |
