Obituary:	Mr. Opal Edgar Baker age 87 years a resident of 309 Brandenburg street in Belington departed this life 9:45 Tuesday January 15th 2008 in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington following a brief illness. He was Born September 4th 1920 at Avoca Indiana a son of the late Quince and Gradis Kirkman Baker. On November 3rd 1943 at Philippi he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Hymes who survives at their home in Belington. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son Allen Edgar Baker and wife Jane of Wise River Montana , two daughters Shelley Hollen and husband Jeff of the Stringtown Road near Belington, Nancy Tavalocci and husband Joe of Elkins., eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one Brother Don Baker and wife Ada of Chesterfield Indiana , and one sister Deloris Staggs of New Lebanon Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers. Mr. Baker was a veteran of the US Army serving in the 94th Signal Battalion during WWII in the European Theatre. He was employed by the wood working industry for most of his working life and was retired from the Randolph County Board of Education. At the request of the deceased his remains will be cremated and entered in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman at a later date.
