Mr. Robert Nevin “Bob” Kelley age 84 years a resident of Rt 2 Belington, the Sugar Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord 6:00 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the a Davis Memorial Hospital following a five month illness.

He was born December 3, 1922 at Barbour County a son of the late Clarence and Laura Cashdollar Kelley. On October 30, 1948 at Belington he was united in marriage to the former Rosemary Day who survives at their home. They had celebrated 58 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kelley is survived by two daughters Charlene Poling and husband David; Linda Sponaugle and husband Hadley; one grandson Brad Poling and wife Melissa all of Belington, two granddaughters, Kelly White and husband Roby of Elkins and Carrie Sponaugle of Belington. Also surviving are one great-grandson Aaron White, one great-granddaughter, Ariel White both of Elkins and one brother Arnold Kelley and wife Jane of Belington. One niece, three nephews, and a special cousin Bus Kelley of Belington also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shannon Poling.

He attended the schools of Barbour County and was a 1942 graduate of Belington High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII in the Philippines, and a life time member of the Laurel Mt. Post #410 VFW. He was a school bus driver and retired from the Barbour County School Transportation System in 1984 with 27 years of service.

Mr. Kelley was a farmer and his hobbies included hunting and fishing and he enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church where he was a faithful member of the mowing crew.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington on Wednesday, June 20th
from 4 - 9 pm and on Thursday until 12 pm at which time he will be moved to the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church near Belington where he will lie in state from 1 to 2 pm the funeral hour. Final rites will then be conducted by the Rev. Destry Daniels. Interment will then follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery where the American Legion Post #44 of Philippi will conduct full military honors. The family ask in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Sugar Creek Community Cemetery Rt 2 Box 297 Belington. WV 26250. The Talbott Funeral Home of Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Robert Nevin “Bob” Kelley. Condolences may be expressed to the family at talbottfuneralhome.com.

Bob was one great Bus driver he always made me set on the front row.For talking to much i guess. He will be missed he was a great person for sure.My thoughts & prayers will be with the family.
